How do you start?
You are required to make a choice between two universities, based on your research interests and prospective supervisor. If you are interested in more than one area of study, you should apply to the university offering your first choice of program.
Start by deciding what areas of research interest you and find out who is working in that area. Refer to the “Members” page to find out what professors are working on. Then you may proceed to the application forms.
Next, choose which university to apply to. Carleton University and the University of Ottawa do not share application information, so if you wish to be considered for admission by both universities, you will have to apply separately to both.
Admission Requirements
Applicants should refer to the Carleton University Graduate Calendar or University of Ottawa Graduate Calendar for program Admission Requirements, including Language Requirements. For more information on language requirements please visit the Proficiency in English section found on the “International Students” page.
*Applications received after the date for each term deadline will be considered, however, please note that applications still require 4-6 weeks for processing of completed files.

Applications for admission to graduate programs may be submitted at any time. However, prospective students who apply early increase their chances of securing financial support for their graduate studies. In addition, it is recommended that applications for admission from outside Canada should be completed at least five months before the desired date of admission.
