The graduate program in transportation engineering covers policy, planning and technology of urban, regional, and intercity transportation systems including terminals. An innovative and distinctive feature of this program is the balanced treatment of both the engineering and the multi-disciplinary aspects of transportation.
Research studies in the transportation systems planning area cover policy analysis, planning methodology, modelling and simulation, energy and emissions, information technology applications to transportation, traffic operations and geometric design. In the transportation technology area, research has focused on technology of vehicles and facilities, including new concepts in pavement design and studies of new materials for pavements. The graduate studies and research program is assisted by the activities of the Transportation Research Centre and the Geogrid Centre (C-GRID).
